Hi,
I’m Juliette. I’m an artisan of many crafts, a holistic wellness guide and creator behind Duir Skincare-a family owned and operated Goat Milk cosmetic product and herbal apothecary business. I'm so glad you're here.
Originally, I’m from Texas, but now reside in Southern Tennessee on my husband and I’s farm.
My passion for holistic wellness and the arts spawned from a very young age. I was always active, enjoying hiking, biking, painting, performing music on my clarinet and family farm-related activities. Never wanting to miss out on the opportunity to assist my grandfather on the farm with the all the dear animals, I would always jump right in to help. After bonding with my favorite heifer, Angela, I guess you could say I became smitten with the farm life. I knew in my heart I would always strive to keep a reciprocal relationship between myself and friends of wing and tail.
As far as nutrition goes, my family encouraged the "everything in moderation" rule of thumb. However, until my mid-teens I didn’t really understand the full relationship of our food and skincare and how it impacted our mental, physical and emotional health. I began diving into learning all aspects of diet intake and how what we applied on our body correlated with it.
From that point on, I couldn’t help but have an affinity for naturally made beauty and cosmetic products. The thought of applying metals and other hidden harmful ingredients (which many brands contain today) to my skin and hair made me cringe! In a short amount of time, I noticed how the simple changes of switching to all natural skin, body and hair care, coinciding with a fresh, natural diet, completely regenerated my whole body. My skins appearance dramatically improved and my hormones balanced, which stabilized my emotional and physical well being. Overall, I was much happier, energetic, and confident!
On that account, I promised myself to always use the most organic and natural skin and hair care products possible for the rest of my life, as well as remain mindful about what I internally consume. Remembering what it felt like to have a misaligned body and mind gave me passion to take what I had learned and share my knowledge about holistic health with others. Eventually this lead me to create my own body care line with the help of four-legged farm friends, blending my love of healthcare with my deep appreciation of animals. Together, with the plants and animals, I am so excited to share Duir Skincare with you.
Duir Skincare, pronounced "Dew-Ar", birthed to life when my husband and I bought our country home in southern Tennessee. We began building a relationship with our land by growing our own garden, herbs and flowers for cooking, baking, medicinal and selfcare purposes. Inspired by the surrounding Mother Nature, I fell right back into my roots and knew it was time to begin my holistic skincare-creation journey.
Similar to whole body care, the Oak tree is sacred, and has always beheld a special place in my heart. The magnificent Oak giants on our land truly breathed more life into this endeavor of mine; hence, the name Duir Skincare was born, as in the ancient Duir Oak trees. I am committed to creating nourishing, tried-and-true products like the earth nourishes and holds us steady. I’ve crafted all my soaps, facial and body lotions from pure, natural ingredients. Personally, I chose to create with a Goat Milk base because of its wide variety of benefits. What all does it benefit, you may ask?
Well, Goat Milk contains alpha-hydroxy acids that have impressive anti-aging properties. They gently remove dead skin cells to reveal fresher, softer younger- looking skin. Not only that, the vitamin A, B12, C, D and E gives your skin a significant dose of nourishment to stay healthy, hydrated, and silky soft. The fat protein content in goat milk reduces skin inflammation, while the cream in goat milk is a heavy-duty, yet non-greasy moisturizer to help soothe inflamed, damaged or dry skin while improving its appearance. Therefore, it has been known to relieve discomfort from eczema, psoriasis, acne, rashes, bug bites and sunburns. Goat milk truly provides the perfect balance for healthy skincare overall!
Currently, we provide our own goat milk from our wonderful Nigerian dwarf and boer-mixed does, and I pasteurize it before creating my lotions and soaps.
I derive essential oils from our organically grown herbal garden, or purchase therapeutic-grade essential oils. Each product made with an essential oil(s) is carefully researched and recommended for specific skin types due to the oil’s interactive properties. In fact, there’s a quiz on the homepage that will guide you to a suggested product for your skin type.
You may be wondering what else I use in my products. Duir Goat Milk lotion is blended with a few key ingredients; Shea Butter, Sweet Almond Oil, Apricot Oil, Moringa Oil, Hemp Oil and Vitamin E oil.
Shea butter has anti-inflammatory properties, such as triterpenes, that calm redness and swelling.
Sweet Almond oil has long been used to treat and relieve dry skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. It can also benefit acne-prone skin.
Vitamin E is a well known agent assisting in retaining skin’s moisture and reducing old or new scars and UV-skin damage.
Apricot Oil contains essential acids like linoleic and oleic acid, as well as vitamin A/C which penetrates your skin easily and makes it perfect for sensitive skin. It can also help retain skin elasticity.
Moringa Oil is highly absorbable and will make your skin revitalized by controlling free radicals that cause your skin to age. It also has anti-fungal, anti-viral, anti-bacterial and astringent properties.
Hemp Oil is perfect for skin as it can moisturize without clogging your pores. It can even help with balancing oily skin, hydrating it and regulating the skin’s oil production. The anti-inflammatory and new cell generator, omega-6 fatty acid called Gamma-Linolenic acid, is within hemp as well.
Altogether, along with the nourishing Goat Milk and essential oils, your skin will elevate from the use of these products.
However, please be conscious that Goat Milk products may not be for you as some people have dairy intolerance, and your skin absorbs about 70% of whatever is applied to it. I will be expanding into vegan skincare creations in the future because I'd love to provide all people with a natural beauty alternative.
For now, please nurture your being with my Goat Milk lotions, and my upcoming soaps and hair products as well.
In Care,
Juliette Furnish
